On the second day of the New Year Celebrations (yeey, we are in the year of the monkey :) ) we went on a day trip to the Tan Thach Village in the Ben Tre province just around one hour away from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). It’s very beautiful with its pretty river and tropical vegetation. After a 25min ride on a boat we arrived at the Tan Con Qui restaurant where we ordered tons of yummy food. Amongst other delicious food we ate this yummy fish in the photo. What I liked especially was a different type of fish though, that was cooked in front of us, because it was so soft… once I had eaten at least 5 big pieces I learnt that what I had just eaten was fish fat only… oh well :)
After our snack we headed to a spot where we entered a mini boat which threatened to tip over each time an additional person climbed in. Thankfully it didn’t and we got a little tour through the valley. After a stop at a honey farm where we had yummy honey tea and another little break with fresh fruits and live music, our half a day tour was finished. It’s really pretty there and takes just one hour by car from Saigon. Perfect to escape Saigon’s traffic madness!
