Canada: Why you should visit Vieux Quebec – Old Quebec

Old Quebec or Vieux Quebec in French is super beautiful. Strolling through its streets and alleys you feel like you are suddenly in the middle of a romantic town in the south of France. Everything looks so peaceful and idyllic.

In general, Canadians are super friendly and make you feel welcome no matter where (even the police is super friendly after they have pulled you over Smile). So on top of the general friendliness, Quebec also has a super relaxed vibe and unique style. I instantly fell in love with Old Quebec! Having been travelling for 6 weeks now I started missing the European ‘old town’ style. I am good now again – thanks, Vieux Quebec!

We strolled through one end of the old town to  the other end, thereby passing cute cafes and incredibly pretty buildings. At some point we arrived at Frontenac which looked super beautiful. From there you also have a perfect view of the part of Old Quebec.

In the little Italian restaurant in the photo below we sat down to have a glass of wine. The restaurant is located in yet another historical beautiful place!

For dinner we went to Chez Boulay on one evening which was super tasty and had nice and relaxed atmosphere. We had a signature seafood platter to start and Onion Cappuccino soup and steak afterwards – all very good.

It’s definitely worth visiting Quebec if you are in the area. Even the 7-8hour drive from Toronto to Quebec is totally fine as Old Quebec is super beautiful. We had 4 days in Montreal and Quebec together. After lots of recommendations that hinted that Quebec is way prettier than Montreal we split the 4 days in 1 day Montreal and 3 days Quebec – turned out to be a great decision.

Around Quebec you will also find beautiful national parks and lots of nature!

Quebec does look great. The architecture and cosy feel of the old city is lovely. I wonder why it is less written about compared to other more popular cities of canada.
