What a fun weekend! On Friday I met with two friends for dinner at Campania & Jones before heading over to dance to some electronic music at Oval Space. I didn’t know the DJs (it’s not my kind of music usually) but it was lots of fun. On Saturday Michael and I went to Clapham to have brunch. As we decided to walk through the park first it was a bit late for brunch afterwards, so we went straight for wine and snacks at WC – a super cosy little restaurant/wine bar in a former public toilet (hello quirky London!). Unfortunately they don’t serve hot beverages, so instead of a Cappuccino I had to do with an Espresso Martini haha. In the evening we (7 girls!) joined in for the craziness at Elysee, a Greek restaurant near Goodge Street where you get to smash plates and dance on them, and guys, listen up, there is also a belly dancer!
Duck & Waffle is located in the City of London, London’s financial district. More specifically the restaurant is located in the Heron Tower, one of London’s prettiest skyscrapers with a stunning view. Here you can eat while enjoying an amazing view over London. A must is to enjoy the view when you take the elevator to the restaurant. This is easily the coolest elevator in London. It is a glass elevator that goes up and down super quickly and makes you think you are flying – well or falling (equally as exciting!).
Fancy interior and atmosphere. Entering the restaurant you first arrive in Duck & Waffle’s bar which serves really good cocktails. The bar is also quite stylish. So you actually might want to come a bit earlier than your dinner reservation time and treat yourself to a nice cocktail while overlooking London.
Yes, so the photo… we had a little Xmas party before we came for dinner.. :)
The food is really good! I had Duck & Waffle as a main (their signature dish!). It is pretty decent.. sounds like a weird combo but really, it’s yummy. So you definitely can’t go wrong with that one. The dessert was equally as tasty – Macaron with chocolate ice cream – simply amazing!
Well, it’s a fairly fancy restaurant in one of London’s coolest skyscrapers, so it’s not a bargain. That said, you should be fine with £40 per person including 2 dishes and a drink.
Yes! Go there. Make it a nice dinner at a weekend with a fancy cocktail before or after the dinner :)
The Ting restaurant is definitely one of the top choices to if you like fancy restaurants with a stunning view. It is located in The Shard, 128 metres above the city of London. With its 310 metres, The Shard is the highest skyscraper in London and also the tallest building in the European Union. So I guess you can imagine the view that comes with a dining experience there! Whilst the ‘exterior’ therefore is certainly worth it, also the interior of the Ting restaurant is simply stunning. The restaurant has a very stylish modern Asian flair and a lot of attention to detail was paid when designing this place.
The menu is not that big but every dish sounds super yummy and it was quite hard to make a choice. I went for the Jerusalem Artichoke Soup with chestnuts and truffles as a starter, the Monkfish with razor clams, cauliflower, miso as a main and the Praline with a hazelnut sponge, milk chocolate and lemon as a dessert. Afterwards we had dessert wine and were served very delicious pralines. The food and the service were both fantastic.
The Ting restaurant is definitely worth a visit. I expected the restaurant to be more expensive given that it is located in The Shard. However, prices are very comparable to similar restaurants that are based on ‘sea level’ in London. Sometimes it may be difficult to get a table for the prime dinner time at the weekend so make sure you book well in advance.
