After spending a three days in Pula we were headed to Slovenia where our road trip would finish a few days later. Rather than driving straight from Pula to Portorož (our first stop in Slovenia), we decided to split up the way to have lunch in Rovinj and then visit the Kozlovic Winery during the afternoon. It turns out, this was an amazing decision :) We had such a lovely time in the beautiful town of Rovinj and the most perfect setting for a wine tasting at the Kozlovic winery. Also their wines were really nice. I especially fell in love with their Malvazija wines. Too bad they don’t deliver internationally yet, else this would be on my wine order list for summer :)

The winery offers 9 different wine tasting programmes. We had a guided walk through all the different stages of the wine production process and visited the wine cellar before tasting 5 different wines on the terrace. Each wine was accompanied with a new selection of matching nibbles.

Beautiful Flowers at the Shard London

Whoosh, time flies! It’s already been more than a couple of weeks ago that we went for cocktails to the GONG bar in The Shard. If you are looking for a beautiful bar with amazing cocktails and an incredible view of London, this is the perfect cocktail bar for you!

I love going to the Shard as it’s one of the closest really good cocktail bars to my home. It literally takes me 15 mins to walk there (well, assuming I’m not wearing heels haha). The cocktails at GONG bar are at the 52nd (!) floor of the Shard which gives you the most amazing view of London.

The minute you enter the Shard building you see super pretty decor, like the flowers below :) I love it that so many hotels, restaurants and shops decorate with flowers in spring. Makes me like this season even more!

Perfect Cocktails and …

The mixologists at GONG bar are truly amazing and happy to mix you pretty much any cocktail you’d like – even if not on the menu. But rather than going for your usual one, try one of GONG bar’s signature cocktails. Some cocktails sound rather peculiar and are served in a quirky glass or jar (once I ordered a cocktail that was served in what looked like a mini shoe!) but all of them are really delicious. If you are a fan of the speakeasy-type of cocktails, you will love the cocktails at GONG bar :)

… Perfect View!

If you don’t manage to get a table next to the window, just walk over to their bar sections and enjoy your cocktail next to the window there. The view of London is superb! I actually think there is no better view of London than this, the view from the Shard is also much better than the one from Samba Sushi or Duck & Waffles.

And if you are after dinner rather than Cocktails, check out the TING restaurant at the Shard here.

How to get to Gong bar?

The Shard is located just off London Bridge and impossible to miss – it’s the largest building in the UK after all.. Once you are in the lobby, take the elevator up to GONG bar :) For reservations and more information about GONG bar, check out their website here.

Kyoto Nama Chocolat Organic Tea House

Chocolate lovers, listen up! If you will ever visit Kyoto, plan in some time at Nama Chocolat Organic Tea House, a lovely cafe specialised in organic chocolate. The place is a bit hidden which actually isn’t bad at all as it makes you walk through a quiet residential neighbourhood in Kyoto which is a super pleasant walk for an afternoon. It’s also a great way to see something else in Kyoto except shrines and temples (which, of course you SHOULD visit! – click here for a super pretty one).

It doesn’t take long to walk to the cafe although I think I needed three times the time that was suggested on google maps. This time I didn’t get lost, I just stopped so many times to take pictures of the neighbourhood and its little shrines and historic buildings hidden in between the houses.

When you arrive you are first supposed to take off your shoes (it’s Japan!). I was also greeted by a cute (huge) dog :) I love dogs so for me that was an awesome ‘hello’. I’m not sure if she is part of the ‘interior’ though, so she might not be there all the time. Be prepared to meet a cat or two though. I am allergic against cats but I didn’t feel anything at the cafe, so if you are allergic as well, you will probably be fine. As mentioned, Nama Chocolat Organic Tea House is known for its amazing hot chocolate and chocolate cakes, chocolate pralines.. well all things chocolate really. And, as you know, I LOVE CHOCOLATE. So for me this was a bit like heaven on earth :)

Interior of Nama Chocolat Tea House Kyoto

You are seated on tatami mats on the floor (Japan!) in a really beautifully decorated Japanese tea house. There are a number of small tables and also some bigger ones if you are coming with friends. I came with my Kindle and found a lovely little place next to the window / front yard entrance. The place is really so pretty so it doesn’t matter at all where you sit. I’d try to come on a weekday though as the tea house isn’t too big and may be a bit more crowded on weekends.

Best Chocolate cake in Kyoto!

I ordered a matcha tea and a chocolate cake with strawberries. The matcha tea was served with a little chocolate praline (super yummy!) and the chocolate cake was much bigger than expected (yeeeey!). After having finished my chocolate treat the owner of the Nama Chocolat Tea House came over and joined me for a short while. She is such a lovely person who had been living in Kyoto for ages but is originally from Canada. We chatted for a while before I continued reading in my kindle while having another tea. Have you tried matcha tea? It’s amazing!

I’m a huge fan of quirky, cosy, little cafes that are a bit different than the usual Starbucks etc places. If you are as well, you will love Nama Chocolat Organic Tea House :)  The tea house is located here 76-15 Okazaki Tennocho, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto 606-8335 , Kyoto. Google maps works great for this one!
