Skiing France Three Valleys

Did you know that France is not only amazing for summer trips but also for winter? And I don’t mean just Paris (though Paris is simply always a great idea!). I am referring to France’s beautiful spots for winter sports :)

I mostly go skiing in Austria and Switzerland but this time we’ventured’ out to the Trois Vallees in France. It’s quite easy to get to from London by flying to Geneva in Switzerland and then renting a car to drive up to Les Menuires in the Three Valleys which takes around two to three hours. We arrived super late at night..

DAY ONE – THURSDAY

We arrived late on Wednesday evening or rather Thursday morning (2am!) and actually planned to go skiing the next morning. When we woke up around 11am though, the weather was just so amazing and sunny that we decided to enjoy the sun on the terrace and take it easy. So we had a lovely breakfast and then just relaxed in the sun with some coffee :)

There are amazing restaurants close by Les Menuires (10 min drive from our chalet) with super yummy French food. There are even Michelin star restaurants which are perfect for an evening when you are not entirely exhausted from a long day of skiing:) On Thursday night, we decided to go to La Ferme de la Choumette in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville which has a lovely rustic interior and is perfect for cold winter days! The food is also super yummy!

DAY TWO – FRIDAY

Yeey, finally the first day of skiing! I woke up super early, even before sunrise. The moon was still up and it was so entirely quiet and peaceful. Totally needed a break from the hectic London lifestyle!

We drove down to the skiing lift which opened around 9 am and were up on the slopes skiing by 9.30 am. The weather was super sunny yet the snow was a bit slushy depending on which slopes you took. I didn’t mind that much though as I hadn’t been skiing for such a long time! So I loved it anyway! We spent the whole day skiing from early morning till late in the afternoon – I guess we did this to make up for the lazy Thursday when we stayed in the chalet. We had a few coffee breaks though and also a stop at Folie Douce for a little while.

In the evening we decided to cook at home and then curl up in front of the fire and play a board game :)

DAY THREE – SATURDAY

The Saturday was a bit foggy and it was snowing half the time. Also it was much colder than the day before. At least that meant that the skiing conditions would be perfect the next day (they were!). We went skiing until around 4 pm and then headed back to the chalet. At least that way we had time to relax and get ready for going out for dinner later. We opted for a Michelin restaurant, Le Montagnard. Super yummy food :)

LAST DAY – SUNDAY

As expected, the skiing conditions were PERFECT. At it was the last day of skiing and we had to head back to the airport in the afternoon, our skiing day started super early and we were on the slopes by 9am :) We went skiing for 4 hours with just one mini break to get some water. At some point we unintentionally ended up off the slopes and had to show off our (not-really-existing) free riding skills haha. When we thought we had made it back to the slopes we realised that there was a 1.5m jump still between us and ‘civilisation’… Ha! My knies felt like pudding afterwards and Michael’s thighs were quiet dead too but it was so much fun!

We headed back to the airport in Switzerland to make our flight home to London in the early evening on Sunday. Do you see? A long weekend skiing in France is a great idea for a short skiing trip :) Since our trip we’ve even been tempted to purchase some property of our own out there! Because holiday homes have been more popular in recent years, we’re definitely going to do some research first to make sure we can afford one. The next time we go away though, we will go skiing the FIRST day already though rather than being lazy bums!

So Restaurant London

Such a fun day:) A huge order from ASOS arrived today from which at least 70% of the clothes had the perfect size and cut. Yeeey :) And the sun was shining today! Looking outside the window and seeing sunshine makes working much much better immediately! For dinner Michael and I went to So Restaurant near Piccadilly Circus. Hadn’t eaten Sushi for a while so I was happy to finally have some nigiri and sashimi again. And they also served Fatty Tuna which is so hard to find in London or generally outside of Tokyo I guess. So Restaurant’s sashimi platter is quite reasonably priced whilst the single nigiris are a bit more expensive than average. But it was yummy anyway :) After dinner we headed to China Town for a quick neck and shoulder massage. It’s not the fanciest of all places but I love the Chinese deep tissue massage and it’s literally a walk-in massage place: Give them 15 minutes and you feel like a newborn!

Nevis & St. Kitts Travel Blog

As you know I’m such a beach bum. Give me hot weather and a beautiful beach (for either surfing or scuba diving, or both!!) and I turn into Little Miss Sunshine. Nevis is a little island in the Caribbean that has exactly that: Beautiful and remote beaches with amazing scuba diving and snorkeling sites. I’m not sure about the surfing but the friend we stayed with did lots of kite surfing, so the water adventure sports addicts will be happy in Nevis, too :)

Our Way To Nevis

We flew with a good friend of mine from London to St. Kitts from where we took a ferry over to Nevis. There we stayed with Oli, a good childhood friend of my friend’s. Can’t believe he actually grew up in paradise. His Mom told us that the first few years the only clothes he had were flip flops and boarder shorts haha. Then he was sent to the UK for boarding school.. from sun to rain.. poor little one!

His Mom lives in a beautiful house from which you have a stunning panoramic view. I loved it when it was heavy rain and thunderstorm and we were sitting on her balcony, drinking wine and watching the rough weather unfold.

Things to do in Nevis

There is so much to do in Nevis! We generally spent our days in sunbathing in beach restaurants, scuba diving, exploring remote beaches or just driving around to see more of the island. One day we went sailing and did some fishing and snorkeling which was lots of fun. I love watching the sunset on the ocean. On another day we got up super early in the morning to climb the mountain in Nevis. That was such a cool day. I didn’t enjoy the way up that much but the way down was hilarious! My friend and I turned into little monkeys and fooled around for probably one hour until we were down again haha.
