During our trip to Vietnam we had a night and a day stopover in Moscow. Of course we wanted to make most of it, and started with drinking cocktails in a couple of different locations the night before.
On the next day we planned to leave the hotel at 8am to start our sightseeing tour. Obviously that didn’t happen as we came back from our cocktail bar trip only at 3.30am in the morning.. Hence we left the hotel at 10am (still an early start I think).
First thing on the One Day In Moscow Sightseeing list was the Kremlin, the Red Square and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. I totally loved it that three of the main attractions are directly next to each other. This is especially important if you find yourself in a very cold city during winter with summer clothes only (I layered them up and even found a little autumn jacket in my luggage – yeeey :) ). Even better when you take a break after 300m in a café / restaurant that serves delicious breakfast!
After breakfast we felt warm enough and full of energy to cross the other half of the Red Square and visit Saint Basil’s Cathedral which is incredibly pretty! As practical as it gets, there was the Moscow Hop On Hop Off sightseeing bus just waiting around the corner. The ideal solution if you have limited time and are freezing your **** off! We jumped into the bus and enjoyed a one-hour-ride through Moscow’s beautiful ‘inner’city.
Around 2.30pm we met a friend for lunch at Café Pushkin. The food was delicious! What I enjoyed even more was the interior of the restaurant though! I just love the aristocratic design of the place :) After two hours of chatting away we picked up our luggage in the hotel and took a taxi to the airport. Off to Saigon! Wohoo, summer .. finally!
