During our stay in Toronto we visited the Niagara Falls. They are about a 2hour-drive away from Toronto and are on the border between Canada and the US.
We bought the Niagara Falls Classic Adventure pass which is around CAD 55 and includes 4 attractions: A 4D movie about the history of the Niagara Falls, a walk behind the waterfalls, a boat tour to the falls and a white water walk. There are even bus tours from toronto that might be able to take you to see the falls.
First Day at the Niagara Falls
We arrived there around 4.30pm on a weekday which was too late to be able to complete all four attractions in one day. So on the first day we just walked along the promenade with a view over the waterfalls and did the behind the falls tour. Here you take the elevator which brings you down to circa the middle of the waterfalls. You can go outside on a platform to have a stunning view of the falls (the 4 photos below).
Then you can walk through a tunnel which leads you to behind the waterfalls. Both is quite spectacular as you really can see the immense power of the Niagara Falls.
Second Day at the Niagara Falls
On the second day in Niagara, we did the boats tour and watched the 4D movie. Guess what, we were again too late to do all the remaining attractions… so we never got to do the white water walk…By the way, the tickets are apparently valid without expiry, so we might still come back at a later stage to do the walk
The boat tour was the most impressive thing we did at the Niagara Falls. It drives you really close to the falls and you can actually ‘feel’ the power of the water. I was so impressed by the falls that I couldn’t stop starring at them – then a lot of water poured on me, kicking me out of my little Zen zone. Good thing, we all had fancy plastic rain coats..
Back at the pier I looked like this with my hair freshly showered..
After the Niagara boat tour, we went back to the visitor centre to watch the movie. The main character of the Niagara Falls movie is a little beaver who travels back in time to experience how the Niagara Falls were formed. Though the movie might be more for kids, it’s still informative and really cute
After the movie you walk into a round room that has a screen on the entire wall. You are standing in the middle and are asked to put on your fancy rain coat again. Then the 4D experience starts and you experience the same nature development as the little beaver in the movie you have just seen.. Yes, you are getting wet again – but way less than on the boat!
So if you are passing by Toronto or are close to the Niagara Falls from the US side, make sure you visit them! They are super impressive due their immense size and power. The attractions are also well chosen and organised, so definitely worth to join
