Going on a long-haul trip to a white sandy beach or tropical island this autumn or winter? Make sure your skin will also enjoy your holiday!

Palm Trees and Blue Sky

Now that the sunny summer days have more or less gone, your skin is not used to seeing the sunlight all day long. This means that you have to take extra care during your next getaway on the beach. Too much sun exposure is detrimental to your skin and can lead to sunburns, pre-mature aging and even cancer. So you do want to take care of your precious skin! Below are my tips to do exactly that :)

1. Use sun protection with a sufficiently high UVA and UVB filter.

It depends on your skin type which level of UVA and UVB protection you need. My skin is super pale so I generally apply sun screen with an SPF of at least 30. My facial sun lotion even has a factor of 50 SPF.

2. Protect your head.

Did you know that the skin on your face is thinner than the on your body? So take extra care here. Hats look amazing on the beach and there are so many designs to choose from. Make sure you wear one to protect your pretty face.

3. Cover your back, neck and shoulders.

This is where most people get their sunburns. You don’t have to stay in the sun wearing just your bikini all the time. Wear a pretty dress that covers your shoulders or take a huge summer pashmina with you. I usually wear a full coverage one piece to prevent my tummy from getting burnt. Sometimes I also use a towel to cover my shoulders and face too. If I’m wearing a bikini, I ALWAYS try and stay out of the sun.

4. Wear sunglasses with sufficient UV protection.

Sunglasses look super stylish and have a great purpose. Get some cool ones of high quality and WEAR them.

5. Apply your sunscreen correctly and often

Make sure you don’t leave out any skin that is exposed to the sun. Once you have excelled in that (many people just clearly don’t), re-apply the lotion each time after you have come out of the water. Even if the sunscreen says waterproof, it won’t last forever.

If you are staying in the water for an extended period, consider using a sun blocker for your face. I generally cover my whole face and hands with my sun blocker stick when I go surfing.

6. It’s also cool to chill out in the shade.

You don’t HAVE to be in the sun all the time. Especially try to avoid too much sun from 11 am to 3 pm. Why not just go to a SPA or have a cocktail somewhere pretty in a shady and cool spot? Alternatively, you could consider staying indoors during the middle of the day. It’s often hottest during those hours, so it might be nice to go home for a few hours and have some lunch. Staying indoors can be relaxing, especially if you have an air conditioning unit installed in your home. If you don’t, it can be far too hot inside. To see if you can get an air conditioning unit installed, you might want to contact this company who offer an air conditioning service jacksonville fl if you live in that area. If you don’t, be sure to find another business that offers this service if you want to cool your house down.

Ladies, I hope you already knew all of the above and this was just a little reminder to stay on the safe and happy side :) So, where is your next beach trip going to? What’s your sun routine?
6 Ways to Stay Safe in the Sun | Beauty Hacks

Welcome to paradise :) We spent two weeks in Maui before heading to Cuba and, oh my, I fell in love with this island. The nature is so stunning (by now you should know that I generally prefer pretty nature to cities) and the beaches are amazing – perfect for beach bums. For mountain lovers there is the middle of the island with its volcano (photo below). Also there are lots of resort hotels and it’s safe go to the beach at night. What more can you want :)

What makes the Hawaiian beach life perfect is that Maui is amazing for surfing, scuba diving and snorkeling! The climate is perfect and the water super beautiful. We even saw three reef sharks during one of the underwater trips and lots of huge turtles :) I love places where you can explore marine life as well as enjoy some nice waves for surfing! You usually have to pick the beaches according to which water sports you fancy but Maui has it all :)

What an amazing 2015 full of travel stories! It started with an awesome skiing holiday in Austria in January followed by a crazy carnival party in February in Germany and an amazing girls trip to Budapest for my birthday. Then there was city sightseeing in Edinburgh and a little road trip through Scotland with family, Rome with my granny and of course again the summer girls trips :) This year we went to Marbella and Mykonos! Travelling with a group of girls who happen to be some of your closest friends is just always so much fun! I hope I can join these little trips for ever and we still do them when we are old and have grey hair haha

In August part one of the world trip started! Whoosh, those 4 months went by so quickly! We first had a USA road trip and party time in Las Vegas and New York. A beautiful wedding in Cape Code and then 2 weeks road tripping in Canada. These were followed by amazing two weeks in Hawaii, a paradise beach in Cuba, a perfect hippie surfer life with a crazy wedding in Mexico and then a great time in Peru and Bolivia. We have been home now for 3 weeks and I still haven’t managed to go through all the GoPro videos we took.. Good thing, we still have the entire January for that before the part 2 of the nomad life starts and we will head to Vietnam :)

We are now starting with some Champagne and will then head over to our friends’ place to celebrate the New Year!

Hope you all had a great 2015 and are ready to celebrate the arrival of 2016! Wohoo :)
