Today was quite a windy and cloudy day in Maui. Whilst cloudy is good for surfing (not too much sun in the face), windy is not so good – I like my waves clean and structured ;)
So no surfing this morning. This also meant that I could sleep longer than until 7am!
Around 9am I made it out of the room and sat down with my laptop. I decided to stay a bit more in the shade today. The sun in Hawaii is quite strong, so a little break every other day is not the worst idea. Yes, you are even exposed to the sun through clouds… So I chose my spot on the terrace under the roof. Below my view from my laptop spot.
After a couple of hours of getting a few things done and some reading afterwards, we went for a walk towards where our sunset cruise would leave.
When we arrived it actually started to rain. What a timing! We were not up for sailing in the rain and decided to reschedule. Instead we sat down in one of the local restaurant on the Kaanapali beach – just in time for cocktail happy hour at Leilani’s :)
After some food and a Margarita I went to a little jewellery shop in the Whaler’s Village and found super cute turtle earrings and a pretty silver flower ring.
One the way back, the beach looked absolutely stunning! There is no filter used for these photos, they are straight from my Sony phone.
Back in the hotel I went for a little swim in the dark. First in the pool and then in the ocean. I sat down on the beach in the water and looked at the horizon. Far away there were still a few lights that were slowly fading away. It looked just unreal – way too beautiful to be true.
